Writing workshops
  • Sally Cranswick Sally Cranswick is an author and writing coach who offers courses, mentorships and workshops, including via UCT Summer School.
  • Finuala Dowling offers a range of online courses and writing workshops
  • Karin Schimke is a writer, journalist, translator and an award-winning poet. She offers a book coaching programme, consultations, and manuscript assessments.
  • Toni Giselle Stuart offers writing workshops, courses and 1:1 Writing Mentorship, online and in-person in Cape Town.
  • Chantel Erfort Manuel and Toni Giselle Stuart will co-facilitate The Writing Room – a new in-person community for writers based in Cape Town. It offers a monthly space for movement, meditation and extended writing time to work on your current project.
  • Maire Fisher and Chantal Stewart – offer online writing workshops
  • Mike Nicol offers an online Master Class
  • Learn more about life writing, memoir etc – in person and online workshops started by Dawn Garisch – The Life Righting Collective
  • Melinda Ferguson offers in person and online workshops, she focuses on memoir.

  • Aerial Creative Writing course in Makhanda – been going since 1998
  • Sarah Bullen’s The Writing Room offers a range of options from coaching to writing retreats in exotic places
  • The Jakes Gerwel Foundation offers residencies that writers can apply to participate in, some with mentors.
  • In June, the Open Book Festival offers in-person writing workshops in Cape Town.
  • Dorian Haarhoff is a long standing creative writing teacher who offers workshops and mentoring
