Trifonia Melibea Obono Ntutumu was born in Equatorial Guinea in 1982. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies and Equality Policies from the University of Salamanca (Spain), and her professional life is devoted to writing, research, activism, and teaching.

She is currently enjoying a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Obono gives voice to that other faction of Equatorial Guinea that aims to spread awareness around the world about the other reality that exists in the country, beyond the current political situation, focusing on the more protest-driven and cultural context of society.

She is a prolific writer and three-time award winner: the 2018 Justo Bolekia Boleká International Prize for African Literature for Las mujeres hablan mucho y mal (Women Talk Too Much and Badly); the 2019 GLLI Global Literature in Libraries Initiative Award for La Bastarda; and the 2023 Periplo Award for La hija de las mitangan (The Daughter of the Mitangan), her seventh and latest work.
