The updated, bigger and more comprehensive Small Publishers’ Catalogue: Africa, 2013 is well underway. We’re looking for publishers to contact us so we can list you in the Catalogue. We also plan to list all the literary magazines we can find on the continent. We’ve asked a few people to contribute short pieces that will be of use to writers, publishers or those who care about books and the future of books and reading in Africa.
I’ve been sifting through a huge pile of business cards collected at several Cape Town Book Fairs and two Frankfurt Book Fairs, compiling a database of publishers and bookish organisations and people to approach about the Catalogue. It’s like putting pieces of a puzzle together.
In terms of the campaign, it’s been mostly writers who have contributed. Thank you to you generous people!
You can go to the campaign site to see who has contributed and perhaps make a small contribution yourself. We’re asking a little more of you than just clicking the like button. But please do that too. We still have a way to go to get to our target.
Join in and get listed in the catalogue, take out an ad or contribute to the campaign fund, thanks!
