Modjaji Books will be at the Frankfurt Book Fair again, we’ve been every year since 2011, when we participated in the Frankfurt Invitation Programme. This year we are exhibiting our books on the African Books Collective Stand (B121) in Hall 5.1.

Colleen Higgs, Modjaji’s publisher is also going to Paris before the Fair, as she is the new vice-co-ordinator of the English group of the International Alliance of Independent Publishers. Every year before the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Alliance has a planning and strategy meeting.

In addition, Colleen will participate in a roundtable discussion: Feminist Press Reversing the Gender Bias with the following people: Maly Diallo (Podcast Après la première page, Journalist), Colleen Higgs (Modjaji Books, South Africa), Anne Migner-Laurin (Les Éditions du remue-ménage, Canada/Quebec) and Mirline Pierre (Legs édition, Haïti) / Friday 12 October, 1.30-3.30 pm / Lettres d’Afrique (Hall 5.1 / B125)

We are also really proud that one of our titles, Barbara Boswell’s Grace was selected for the WomenList put out by the Alliance for the Frankfurt Book Fair. The WomenList catalogue showcases more than 30 novels, short stories, essays and comics on feminism, women’s struggles, their emancipation across the world – these titles are from independent publishers’ lists from all continents. The WomenList’s books can be seen online.

We look forward to seeing our friends from the international publishing world and selling rights and discovering new publishing ideas.
