We were delighted to discover that two of our titles were recognised at this year’s HSS Awards. They were Moving On, short stories by Barbara Ludman and S.E. Bhamjee’s debut novel, Home Scar which was recognised in the Emerging Author category.
On Moving On from the judges of the award:
“The book is an exceptional collection that captures the heart of contemporary South Africa through its keen observations of urban life.”
and on Home Scar from the judges:
“The novel powerfully reflects on issues such as racial prejudice, gender oppression, intergenerational trauma and cultural identity, making it a significant contribution to conversations around healing and social justice.”
This was also the novel described in The Cape Towner as “Chef writes erotic coming-of-age story.”
