Our AUTHORS
Karin Cronje’s first publication, the short story, This Protracted Birth, established her as a fearless writer who doesn’t shy away from exposing the hidden and off limits. She has written two novels, Vir ‘n pers huis (1998) Human & Rousseau, and Alles mooi weer (2008) Genugtig!, written in both Afrikaans and English. Alles mooi weer won the Jan Rabie/Rapport Prize.
Her memoir, There Goes English Teacher, (2018) Modjaji Books, digs deeply into what it means to be fully human. It is a raw portrait of creativity, identity and erosion, but ultimately it celebrates the gifts the world has to offer with a sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes acerbic and ironic, but always humane voice.
Karin is a part-time lecturer in the Music Literacy Department of Stellenbosch University. She teaches academic literacy and works with trainee band conductors.
She has dabbled in acting, written for various print media publications and worked for a number of publishers promoting authors and books.
